Life is Complicated
Everyone looks at life through a different lens, a perspective that places meaning on experiences. The way that we see life is shaped by experiences and our environment. Throughout our lives, we develop beliefs, values, and behaviors and use them as tools to navigate daily life. Some of these tools support growth and propel us towards meaningful experiences. Some tools leave us feeling stuck and others, which worked for us before, stop working altogether. Experiences can completely change our life view creating confusion; leaving us unsure of how to make sense of the world.
Life is beautiful, sad, scary, thrilling, motivating, frustrating, confusing, and exhausting. Our perspective impacts our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. All of these things (beliefs, thoughts, experiences) can leave us feeling indifferent, overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, paranoid, or stuck. Therapy is an opportunity to look at our lives through a different lens than we are used to looking through.
What I’ve Learned
I am a profound believer in the healing properties of therapy. My work has consisted of a broad range of mental health issues ranging from crisis intervention and stabilization to professional development. My specialty areas are anxiety, ADHD in adults, navigating life changes, caregiver burnout, and trauma. I attended Rollins College, ranked #1 in Regional Universities South, for both my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and my Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Communication.
